We work across multiple sites and environments, from staff offices to specialist lab spaces, providing great customer support, technical excellence, and a friendly supportive team ethos. The role Working across a mixed estate of Windows, Mac and Linux, an Infrastructure Analyst within Deskside Support will handle everything from faulty laptops and bespoke and specialist lab equipment, right through to co-ordinating critical University projects, such as a building moves for multiple users or managing activities related to our Academic Calendar. The person The successful candidate will: Use customer service techniques for ensuring that full account is taken of customers’ real and stated needs in the delivery of IT services. Identifying gaps in the available information required to understand a problem or situation and devising means of remedying such gaps. Establish relationships and maintaining contacts with people from a variety of backgrounds. Acquire a proper understanding of a problem or situation by breaking it down systematically, ensuring that learning is identified and absorbed. Possess the knowledge and ability to install and maintain hardware and software systems in a way that ensures they operate within their planned specification and are safe to use. Ideally possess a good understanding of Linux and/or Mac environments Being able to travel to sites in and around Greater Manchester and the North West would be advantageous full UK driving licence preferred. Please be aware that due to the nature of the work of the Deskside Support team, home/remote working is not available in this role, and you will be required to work on-site.
