Job Description
This role can be based at any of the following sites: Culham, Oxfordshire.
This role requires employees to complete an online Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), including The Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks for criminal convictions.
The Role
Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to make a difference? Join our team and contribute to the future of fusion energy. As Health Physics Operations Supervisor, you will be providing services to demanding time scales and allocation of resources to meet UKAEA operational needs. You will be responding to incident situations at the Culham site, acting as a nominated deputy for the HPOM, and be part of the emergency on-call team for on-site incidents and for off-site RADSAFE response.
Additional Responsibilities:
* Providing first line management and supporting the development of Health Physics Nuclear Apprentices and Trainees.
* Prioritising and programming the work of the HPT section in co-ordination with the Health Physics Operations Manager (HPOM) and Health Physics Partners (HPP).
* Formulating survey schedules for radiologically and beryllium designated areas and amending them upon liaison with the relevant HPP.
* Inspecting designated areas to ensure they meet site standards and requirements, and reporting findings to relevant HPPs.
* Assisting with the delivery of the practical on-the-job training of Health Physics Nuclear Apprentices and Trainee HP Technicians.
Qualifications
* Significant operational Health Physics Experience.
* The minimum of City & Guilds Radiation Safety Practice Stage 1 or the Level 2 NVQ equivalent.
* Good numeracy and literacy skills.
* Strong interpersonal skills and able to work flexibly by responding to changes in operational priorities, and operate singly and as part of a team, delivering a high-quality service to the whole project.
