Prokare is an organisation providing long-term specialist care and rehabilitation to Adults with Acquired Brain Injury in small Residential Homes.
JOB TITLE: General Handy Person/Maintenance Person (Six-month contract).
JOB DESCRIPTION:
This role requires good all-round handy person/maintenance skills, the ability to work on own initiative, have a keen eye for detail and a positive and flexible approach to work. All work undertaken must be recorded on the Home’s Maintenance Job Sheets. Duties include general maintenance and repair to the exterior of Prokare properties and their grounds. You are expected to maintain awareness of all risk assessments relating to your workplace ensuring that you understand and can implement them effectively. The post holder is required to maintain their own transport which is essential due to the location of the services.
ROLE EXPECTANCIES:
• Take instruction from and liaise with service managers to ensure all maintenance requirements are met, bringing to the Director of Operation’s attention any relevant issues.
• Complete all relevant documentation.
• Plan, cost out and purchase all approved materials required for each job.
• Ensure that materials used are cost effective and fit for purpose.
• Respect the rights, privacy and dignity of all clients that reside within Prokare services.
• Ensure that all work is carried out to a safe standard.
• Ensure that work is not undertaken for which the Company has a contract in place (for example, plumbing and electrical work) or work for which you do not have the necessary competency or skills.
• Make known to the Home Manager the need to call in electricity, gas or plumbing experts for which there is a contract in place.
• Maintain a safe and healthy environment for clients (for example, leave work areas safe and tidy).
• Ensure that you do not put yourself in danger or undertake work which by it’s nature exposes you to danger.
• Work withing the statutory regulations and conditions relating to Residential Homes that may impact upon the way in which you carry out your work.
• At all times maintain staff and client confidentiality.
• Adhere to Company policies and procedures (a copy of which is held in each home).
• Complete a full induction programme.
• Work flexibly, to suit demands in the homes, as requested at any time by the Manager or Director of Operations
• Work primarily in Burntwood, ensuring the fabric of The Birches is maintained at a high standard.
