The MEM(s) will be responsible for day-to-day operations within the Medical Education Department with regard to a designated care group(s), providing guidance, direction and support in relation to both undergraduate and postgraduate education and training in that/those groups. The post is responsible for the medical education management reporting and for the performance and quality and governance of the education we deliver within the designated care group(s).
The role would suit a motivated and adaptable individual able to work with our Senior Leadership Team (SLT), our wider Medical Education Team and other Departments across the Trust. As a manager, problem-solver and implementer, the post-holder will work to deliver all quality assurance and governance, strategic, financial and operational activities within their own portfolio and across the Department and will ensure streamlined activities based on the priorities of the Director of Medical Education and the Medical Education Strategy. It is essential that the post-holder is a proactive communicator and relationship builder who will work towards achieving the Medical Education's Department's goal of collaborative and fruitful integration with our clinical care groups in order to make East Kent the educational provider of choice in our region.
Main duties of the job
1. Responsibility for the support of medical education services across the care groups(s); this includes the provision of a comprehensive service, responsible for the planning, delivery and evaluation of professional teaching activities, training programmes, continuing professional development, induction and skills training for medical students and junior doctors.
2. Provide specialist knowledge and guidance on medical education related matters.
3. Ensure and deliver data collection and reporting processes which are necessary for quality control and training service development.
4. Develop strong and effective, collaborative relationships with the other Medical Education Managers.
5. Develop networks with all stakeholders and partners across the Trust.
6. Support a broad range of training programmes and complex educational activities, including identification of training opportunities and co-ordination of projects.
7. Work to maximise the sustainability of the department.
8. Work with clinical leadership teams to ensure effective joint working to deliver against education action plans and care group service delivery plans.
9. Provide appropriate reports for the care group(s) leadership teams, for the care group boards, business and quality meetings, local faculty groups and performance reviews.
10. Undertake all operational, financial, budgeting, marketing, procurement and staff management activities necessary.

Experience
* 4+ years recent managerial experience, ideally, though not exclusively, within an NHS or public service environment.
* 2+ years of line management experience.
