An exciting opportunity has arisen for a static part time Band 5 Occupational Therapist to join our Local Primary Mental Health Support Service (LPMHSS) based in Tonna Hospital.
The post holder will provide assessments and therapeutic interventions to patients under Part 1 of the Mental Health Measure with low to moderate mental health conditions, supporting individuals to remain living independently in the community, rebuild skills, and improve engagement in meaningful activities.
The Swansea Bay University Health Board Occupational Therapy Service offers a wealth of experience, diversity, and progression. We are proud to be a profession which is well respected within the Health Board and one which offers an environment in which therapists of all levels can experience nurture, encouragement, development, and can excel.
We provide a commitment to training and education, including preceptorship, post-graduate study, and leadership programmes, ensuring the future of Occupational Therapy within the Health Board is strong and exciting.
You will be required to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service; the contract hours include a 7-day shift pattern, with extended working hours covering 365 days of the year.
Due to the large geographical area that the health board covers, it is an expectation of the role that you will be able to travel across sites to clients' homes and community settings in a timely manner where required.
Main duties of the job
1. To manage a defined caseload, using evidence-based/client-centred principles to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate interventions where appropriate; hospital, community, patients' homes, schools, outpatient settings and maintaining associated records. To organise this efficiently and effectively with regard to clinical priorities and use of time.
2. To ensure clinical records are kept to agreed standards and report accurately to others.
3. To work in partnership with clients, carers, and all stakeholders including the multidisciplinary/multi-agency team to identify relevant goals.
4. To develop skills and knowledge through participation in the Preceptorship Programme and the Band 5 development and competency framework.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
We encourage you to contact us to discuss more specific details regarding the service area and job role.
