Role Overview: We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Public Affairs and Social Media Intern to join our team in Cambridge. This role provides an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual looking to gain hands-on experience in public affairs, policy advocacy, and digital engagement within a vibrant charity environment. You will work closely with our Head of Public Affairs and Communications and wider team to support campaigns that influence policy and amplify our mission. Key Responsibilities: Assist in the development and execution of public affairs strategies to advance Wavelength’s policy goals. Monitor political developments, parliamentary debates, and relevant news to provide timely updates and briefings to the team. Draft and prepare policy briefs, reports, and correspondence for internal and external stakeholders. Support the planning and coordination of events, including meetings with MPs, policymakers, and key stakeholders. Develop and schedule social media content to enhance Wavelength’s online presence and engagement. Create, curate, and manage multimedia content (text, images, videos) for social media platforms. Monitor and report on social media analytics and audience engagement, providing insights to improve future campaigns. Collaborate with team members to brainstorm and produce innovative content that aligns with Wavelength’s mission and strategic goals. Role Requirements: Recently graduated from a degree program in Public Affairs, Political Science, Communications, Social Media, or a related field. Strong understanding of the UK political landscape, including knowledge of parliamentary processes. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to write compelling and concise content. Demonstrable experience managing or contributing to social media channels in a professional capacity. Ability to research, synthesise information, and prepare reports or presentations. Proficiency in using social media scheduling tools and familiarity with analytics platforms. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Passion for social issues, particularly those related to loneliness, digital equity, and community support. Desirable Attributes: Experience in event coordination or stakeholder engagement. Creative skills for producing multimedia content (e.g., basic graphic design or video editing). A proactive attitude and the ability to work collaboratively within a team as well as independently.
