About The Abingdon Damascus Youth Project (ADYP)
At ADYP, we believe strongly in developing inclusive, vibrant and sustainable communities in which young people have opportunities to be significant contributors. An important part of this vision is recruiting staff who have the passion to make a positive difference to young people and their communities. If you are supportive, young-people-focused and share our commitment we would like to hear from you. As the post is at a senior level, previous relevant experience in youth and community work is essential.
As a Senior Youth Worker working within the ADYP communities, your work will include:
- making contact and building trusting relationships with the young people where they feel comfortable, e.g. on the streets or in other informal meeting places.
- fostering their engagement with the wider community, through young people led intergenerational events and building links with other community organisations and local parish/town councils.
- listening to young people and proactively responding to needs raised through delivery of issue-based workshops and/or 1-2-1s as appropriate.
Please note, as the role of youth worker involves engaging with young people within their community, it will include working evenings, weekends and during school holidays.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and we expect all volunteers and staff to share this commitment and undergo appropriate checks (including Rehabilitation of Offenders Declaration and Enhanced DBS check), provide referee details and undergo appropriate training.
For a recruitment pack, please apply to Mrs Anne Whitehead via the advertisement.
Application Deadline 21/02/25.
*DAMASCUS Youth project is also supported, locally, by the Parish Councils of Drayton, Milton, Sutton Courtenay, Steventon and Abingdon Town Council.
