Site Manager Hunterston, Scotland 6 month contract (Inside IR35) 10-hour shifts What we’re looking for: - To manage all aspects of PT activities on site including set-up, customer relations, project reporting, discipline, and efficiency. To manage the entire construction phase in accordance with the company’s health, safety and environmental policy and procedures and to a standard which meets the customer’s reasonable requirements under the contract. - To ensure that good discipline and working practices are maintained within the site to maximize the safety of site activities and minimize the cost of operation. - To ensure that programme commitments are achieved within budget by the correct use of the various grades of staff, craftsmen, and labour and to anticipate, wherever possible, circumstances which may adversely affect the achievement of this objective. - Ensures schedule, quality and cost are in compliance with contractual obligations, company policy and local regulations. - Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology, or engineering. - Takes new perspective on existing solutions. - Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. - Comply with Quality Procedures, work instructions and Processes. - May lead projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. - Manage Site procedures to ensure that Site Works will be conducted to the satisfaction of the Customer, to the level of the clients PT standards. - Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. - Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field. Operations • Review the Health and Safety plan, Site Quality Plan and Project Plan for the works to assess any special needs of the Project related to site establishment or activities, in co-operation with the Project and Construction Teams. • Manage the site set-up and establishment process. • Initiate site procedures for the receipt, control and utilization of materials and information. • Provide information to the Project Team about site conditions and activities to assist in the resource planning. • Ensure the timely preparation of method statements (or review those prepared by others) for the execution of the works, including stage by stage plans, to ensure complete understanding. • Assign the most suitable staff or hourly rated employees to specific tasks within the project to achieve the maximum efficiency, ensuring that the work allocated is within the competence of the individual concerned. • Ensure the timely preparation of risk assessments as required together with control measures necessary to allow activities on site to continue. • Review the progress of work on site to ensure that the work is of the standard required and that the relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation are being observed. Provide progress reports on a regular basis. • Request and review the sub-contractor’s proposed plans for the works and seek further clarification or detailed method statements if considered necessary. • Review the progress of sub-contractor’s work on site to ensure that the work is of the standard required and that the relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation are being observed. • Provide progress reports on a regular basis. • Provide managerial support to the Project Manager in the day-to-day management of the project and liaise with other staff and contractors to resolve problems in a timely and cost-effective manner. • Ensure that the site programme of works in maintained and that the necessary site inputs are provided to the Planning Section. • Ensure that all the company’s obligations on site are met as Principal Contractor or Contractor under Construction Design and Management legislation. • Ensure that site welfare arrangements are in accordance with CDM standards. • Identify any work required which is extra to contract and obtain/prepare or supervise the preparation of commercial documentation such as site instructions, diary sheets and sub order requests. Education/Experience: - Ideally C&G/ONC/HND in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering - IOSH Managing Safely - SMSTS Specific Knowledge: - Mechanical & Electrical Construction and installation techniques Business understanding: - Ability to communicate effectively, with both internal and external networks Experience - Experience in the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of all elements of substation primary and secondary plant and equipment - Knowledge of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations and a detailed understanding of the roles and duties of the Principal Contractor and Contractor - Site Construction experience in a position of leadership Specific Competencies - Experience and knowledge of CDM Regulations and the discharging of the Principal Contractor duties. - Competent communication skills from Contractor level to Client Senior Management - In depth knowledge of HSE in Construction - Computer literate - Experience of budget and construction program planning & management. Behavioural/Managerial Competencies - Strong oral and written communication skills - Background in Mechanical & Electrical works, and commissioning. - Experience in overseeing and managing construction site. - Effective communication and interpersonal skills. - Ability to work in a team environment.
