Exciting opportunity – Assistant Manager x 2 needed for a new children’s home Wakefield is ambitious for children and have adopted an innovative approach throughout its residential model. There are times children need short term placements which are difficult to find. This can result in children being placed in placements that do not meet their needs. Wakefield is opening two short term homes which can support in an emergency situation allowing time to identify the right long-term placement for children. The homes will care for children for up to 12 weeks with up to 3 children in each home. An essential part of this role is a peripatetic basis and ability to be flexible on locations for children. Previous experience of trauma informed practices, therapeutic caring and connective parenting are desirable although full training will be provided. It is essential that you are kind, caring, patient, resilient and can see the need behind behaviours. You should be committed to improving the life chances of the children and young people and share our ethos of never giving up and a full team around the child approach. We will provide you with excellent supervision, appraisal, on – going training and support in obtaining your management qualification awards. Candidates will have significant experience of working in a relevant setting for children and young people, experience of preparing, implementing and reviewing care plans for children. The successful candidate should have the ability to: Relate and communicate to a wide spectrum of people, which includes children and young people, their carers and other professionals. Work in a therapeutic manner. Work and take appropriate decision when under pressure. Good experience of contributing to the support and supervision of staff. Demonstrate literacy and numeracy skills to maintain records and prepare reports. Assess needs and draw up and implement appropriate care plans in conjunction with partner agencies. Have high emotional resilience Work and take appropriate decision when under pressure. You will hold a NVQ3 / Diploma in Caring for Children and Young People, and a willingness to work towards Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management within two years. Effective supervision, Induction and good training are provided to all staff. The work involves shift patterns, including weekends and Bank Holidays.
