Family and Safeguarding Worker
Location: Gillingham
Salary: £24,000 per annum

Reporting directly to the Service Manager, the post holder will undertake recovery work with families impacted by addiction, addressing and supporting a wide range of support needs. The post holder will also liaise with other recovery workers to support the overall coordination of the individual clients' treatment and promote whole family recovery.
The post holder will provide support to management and engage with the local Safeguarding Lead, working in partnership with carers and family support agencies.
What you will be doing?
General Duties:
1. Work flexibly in a variety of settings to create care that meets the needs of the service, service users, and their families in line with the recovery agenda.
2. Hold a small caseload of safeguarding service users.
3. Develop service user-led recovery plans that are comprehensive, person-centred, and individualised.
4. Involve service users and their families/advocates in the planning of their care.
5. Complete accurate, person-centred, and individualised risk assessments.
6. Reflect the structure and aims of the substance misuse model of Psychosocial interventions.
7. Carry out outreach/home visits to ensure service users' health and wellbeing is safeguarded where necessary and appropriate.
Specific Responsibilities
Therapeutic:
1. Facilitate structured key working sessions with individual clients and their family members.
2. Lead the coordination and facilitation of the MPACT programme.
3. Coordinate and facilitate other Forward programmes and structured interventions as required, such as Relationships Matter.
4. Regularly review and update comprehensive assessments, recovery plans, and risk assessments.
5. Provide person-centred care that reflects the choices of service users in a safe environment that maintains their dignity and wellbeing.
6. Provide an environment that is free from abuse or neglect, observing agreed Safeguarding practices.
7. Identify and promote appropriate opportunities for service users to engage with their community (e.g., Training and Education, Employment, Volunteering).
Safeguarding:
1. Work alongside team leaders and the service manager to carry out safeguarding audits and ensure actions are completed.
2. Support the service manager to review, amend, and maintain safeguarding processes at the service.
3. Keep the team up to date with new safeguarding developments.
4. Support team leaders and service manager with new staff inductions related to safeguarding.
5. Produce monthly safeguarding performance reports for the service.
Partnership Working:
1. Work closely with the Family and Young People (YP) department to deliver high-quality support to clients and family members/CSOs.
2. Communicate regularly and effectively with other Forward staff to ensure clients and family members/CSOs receive a holistic package of care and support.
3. Network with external organisations, developing close referral and signposting relationships with specialist services.
4. Attend events as required to raise the profile of the organisation and highlight the family work we do.
5. Work closely with the MASH team to ensure service responds to MASH requests per contractual requirements.
Outcome Monitoring, Evaluation and Continuous Improvement:
1. Support the organisation to evidence and continuously improve the effectiveness of its family-related work through accurate reporting of client and programme outcomes.
2. Provide reports on all aspects of service delivery as required.
3. Attend Designated Safeguarding Lead Forums.
4. Engage with and support family work audits carried out by the Family and YP department.
5. Support the Family and YP department to develop new interventions/programmes.
6. Gather feedback from the people who use our services to continuously improve programmes and interventions.
7. Participate in coproduction and consultation events as required.
8. Meet targets as agreed with your line manager and actively participate in performance reviews.
9. Engage in regular one-to-one line management reviews and team meetings.
10. Carry out day-to-day tasks in accordance with stated policies, procedures, and regulations.
What are we looking for?
1. Knowledge of local authority safeguarding pathways and framework for both children and adults.
2. Experience in recognising and responding to safeguarding concerns, working within organisational safeguarding policies.
3. Experience working with a range of service users with complex needs and within a 'whole family' approach.
4. Experience in working collaboratively with partner agencies to promote recovery and reduce stigma around substance misuse.
5. Good knowledge of substance misuse treatment pathways, including psychosocial and clinical treatment.
