Position Overview:
Working within an industry-leading organisation at Finning, and the world's largest CAT dealership, your role as Rebuild Repair Engineer will be carrying out reconditioning and maintenance on Caterpillar products and supporting 2nd life overhauls to products within the Construction Equipment product group.
Job Description:
We are looking for a highly experienced and motivated individual with a track record of strong electrical, hydraulic, and engine troubleshooting skills who would be suited to a role in a large workshop environment and tasked with the repair and maintenance of CAT machinery.

Major Job Functions:
1. Undertake a detailed inspection of the machine to confirm or expand on any initial field inspection report for a commercial assessment of the likely repair, replacement refurbishment work.
2. Carry out standard diagnosis tests on machine components for accurate cost evaluations or condition and warranty agreements to customers.
3. Produce a comprehensive list of parts and materials required for the proposed machine preparation work.
4. Undertake overhaul, repair, or refurbishment work on the machine to the agreed work plan, removing and dispatching components for specialist attention, re-installing the original or replacement part or repairing original parts.
5. Inspect and test completed machine to ensure unit is operating to expected performance levels.

Knowledge:
1. Deep understanding of the use of general service manuals and computerised Service Information System (SIS) from the OEM
2. Practical knowledge of tooling and specialised equipment to conduct repairs on difficult and heavy machinery
3. Practical knowledge of rigging, slinging, and jacking procedures
4. Electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical fitting knowledge
Accountability:
1. Adhere to agreed job times and ensure the highest quality of finished machines.
2. Maintain availability of machines ready to hire and presentation of machine stock parked in yard.
3. Ensure positive feedback/nil customer complaints.
4. Constant awareness of SHEQ obligations and zero accidents by maintaining a tidy and safe working area.
Education and Experience:
1. Preferably with a background in plant machinery or similar industries (e.g., HGV / agriculture)
2. Either apprentice trained or minimum 5 years’ experience in a quality service environment within a similar industry
3. A licence to drive reach trucks is required
4. Practical experience in operating construction equipment in confined spaces and mechanical fitting work on large-scale machines
