We are looking to recruit an Operational Support Officer in the Trading Standards Team.
This exciting and varied role is predominantly office-based but also offers the opportunity to travel to other offices and locations within the Yorkshire and the Humber region. There may also be some outdoor work throughout the year at a variety of locations including sports grounds, outdoor markets, car boot sales, petrol forecourts, farms, livestock markets and factories.
Trading Standards coordinates the Event Safety Advisory Group (SAG). This group provides a forum for discussing and advising on public safety at events. They aim to help organisers with the planning and management of an event, and to encourage cooperation and coordination between all relevant agencies. As event organisers and others involved in the running of an event retain the principal legal duties for ensuring public safety it is essential that the operational support officer has the communication skills necessary to build effective relationships with organisers and other partners.
The role also allows you to assist officers with wider trading standards and consumer protection work, including safety of sports grounds SAGs.

Working in the Trading Standards Team, you will be surrounded by a small but supportive, established team who will help you grow and develop within this role. This new Team consisting of a senior trading standards officer, an enforcement officer and an operational support officer. You will work under supervision to provide assistance and support to the team and will often be the first point of contact for the event organiser.
