Reporting directly to the Transport Manager as the Depot Driver Team Leader, you are responsible for leading a team of drivers, ensuring timely and safe transportation of goods and maintaining high standards of customer service. You will have excellent leadership skills, a strong understanding of transportation regulations and a commitment to safety.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership:
· Supervising and motivating a team of drivers to ensure they meet performance targets and objectives.
· Inducting, training, and performing 1-2-1’s for your team to ensure process compliance support for the site.
· Providing training and guidance to drivers to enhance their skills and performance.
· Scheduling shifts and routes to optimise efficiency and meet customer demands.
Operational management:
· Competent using the reporting tools and IT software.
· Submission of regular reports to senior management, confirming achievement of the KPI’s
· Collaborating with driver agencies to ensure cover for all areas of daily runs.
· Timesheet checks, verification and completion. Absence, sickness and holiday management for all staff.
· Coordinating with Transport Planner to ensure timely pickups and deliveries.
· Monitoring driver performance and vehicle maintenance to ensure compliance with company policies and regulations.
· Addressing any issues or concerns raised by drivers and providing timely resolutions.
· Ensuring products are packed safely and securely, so as not to be damaged in transit.
· Managing returns and collections at the depot using bespoke computer systems.
Safety and compliance:
· Conducting all activities in a manner that promotes the Health and Safety of yourself and all colleagues.
· Enforcing safety protocols and ensure drivers adhere to all traffic laws and regulations.
· Conducting regular inspections of vehicles to ensure they are in good working condition and compliant with safety standards.
· Managing site compliance, completing vehicle checks, safety checks and ensure all vehicles are safe.
· Plan and schedule servicing in accordance to the manufacturers specifications.
· Repairs to be carried out in a timely and cost-effective manner.
· Investigating and reporting any accidents or incidents involving company vehicles.
· Ensuring all daily deliveries are completed exceptional OTIF control by ensure accurate loading, unloading, and delivery and collection of all orders.
· Ensuring accurate checking and verification of all stock on all vehicles, reporting issues and being the owner of the depot metrics.
· Ensuring all are driving vehicles in line with all statutory & legislative regulations including licence checks.
· Ensuring all vehicles are kept, safe, clean and tidy and no smoking takes place in the vehicles.
* Lifting, moving, loading, unloading, protecting, wrapping and managing all products and equipment safely.
* Using systems, reports and driving software to ensure compliance to all required driving standards.
* Ensuring safe and appropriate use of equipment including vehicles, phones, computers, WMS.
Company objectives:
* Ensuring business and individual key performance indicators are met.
* Providing KPI support on data entry on all agreed system sheets.
* Contributing actively to achieving departmental service level and targets.
* Cost control of depot, ensuring allocation and ownership of all consumables and depot spending including fuel consumption.
* Identifying potential risks, problems, or product defects and ensuring they are reported immediately and resolved or highlighted as appropriate.
Customer Service:
· Demonstrating exceptional driving standards and compliance at all times.
· Maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction by addressing customer enquiries and concerns in a professional manner.
· Identifying opportunities for service improvement and implement appropriate measures
· Ensuring you and your team are well presented, professional, courteous and supportive to our customers at all times.
· Participating actively in continuous process improvement projects, seek ways to develop and maximise customer service levels and improve OTIF delivery and reduce depot costs.
Requirements
* Proven experience as a MHE operator.
· Proven experience in a similar role, preferably in the transport or logistics industry.
· Strong knowledge of transport regulations and safety standards.
· Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
· Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written.
· Excellent computer skills and familiarity with transportation management systems.
· Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
