Welfare Benefits Assistant
Up to £31,511.97 per annum
37 hours per week, Monday - Friday, based at our offices on Preston Docks
What will you be doing in this role?
The Welfare Benefits Assistant will support Welfare Benefit Officers by triaging benefit referrals and interacting with customers both face-to-face and over the telephone.
You will complete benefit and grant applications, aiming to maximise income for CGA customer. You will ensure targets are met in line with individual, departmental, and CGA's Business Plan objectives. Additionally, you will engage with both external and internal services to raise the profile of the Tenancy Support Team.
What we are looking for:
* Extensive experience in a customer-focused setting, adept at handling customer interactions both face-to-face and over the telephone. This includes resolving queries, providing information, and ensuring a positive customer experience.
* Comprehensive knowledge of the Welfare Benefits system, including the latest regulations, eligibility criteria, and application processes. This expertise enables effective guidance and support to individuals seeking assistance.
* Proven experience in liaising with public, private, and voluntary sector groups, fostering strong relationships to enhance collaboration and raise the profile of the service. This involves networking, attending meetings, and participating in community events.
* Strong ability to work within a small team, demonstrating flexibility and a collaborative spirit to support colleagues where needed. This includes sharing knowledge, assisting with tasks, and contributing to a harmonious work environment.

Working arrangements:
This role is based at our gorgeous dockside offices in Preston with occasional evening and weekend work being a requirement of this post. We offer flexibility wherever possible to accommodate our business and your personal needs.
You must hold a current driving licence and have use of a vehicle insured for business purposes.
