Job Description
I have a fantastic opportunity for a Principal Structural Engineer (design) to join a rapidly growing, innovative company who provide a wide range of specialist services, to a variety of sectors. They work with their clients to provide a consultative design service which identifies cost advantageous solutions for below ground pipelines, tunnels and shafts.
This role would suit a Principal design engineer who is ready to take that next step; this role will enable you to steer the design arm of the company and build your own team of experienced engineers - previous experience of managing a team is not essential.
Their main office is based in Doncaster, which you would need to attend once or twice per month, which therefore allows the role to be predominately remote.
Key Responsibilities for this Principal Structural Engineer role:
1. Ensure all tunnelling design deliverables are produced in accordance with project programme, budget and technical requirements.
2. Prepare conceptual and detailed designs including calculations, design risk assessments and sketches / drawings / models as appropriate.
3. Oversee and review structural designs, including calculations.
4. Develop & grow the design team - mentoring more junior members of the team.
5. Liaise with different teams within the business alongside clients, managing the project scope.
6. To be involved in preparing tenders and fee proposals.
7. Coordinate design work with a wide range of suppliers, designers and clients.
Experience required for this Principal Structural Engineer role:
1. Chartered Engineer (ie MICE, MIET, MIMechE) or relevant experience.
2. Circa 8-10 years' experience within structural design.
3. Ideally a background in Rail, Water, Utilities, Drainage or Tunnels.
4. Ideally a consultancy background - although not essential.
5. Ability to manage and drive a team of engineers/designers.
Package offered for this Principal Structural Engineer role:
1. Salary circa £70,000 - £95,000 DOE.
2. Car Allowance.
