About the Role:
We’re looking for a proactive and detail-driven Compliance & Audit Analyst to join our Waste Management team at Southern Water. This is an exciting new role with plenty of scope to develop and grow as you make it your own. You’ll be at the heart of ensuring our third-party suppliers deliver high-quality waste services across the region, with a particular focus on hazardous waste, grit and screenings, and Tankering.
This isn’t just a desk job – you’ll be involved in auditing, planning, and resolving real-world operational issues. You’ll work closely with teams across the business to make sure jobs are done right, on time, and safely, while also identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
* Process and verify orders for waste removal services – hazardous waste, screenings, and general waste.
* Monitor inboxes, respond to queries, and escalate health and safety issues or complaints as needed.
* Audit supplier performance through spot checks and ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
* Collaborate with internal teams and contractors to manage Tankering services and track performance.
* Produce regular reports and insights to help drive improvements in efficiency and service quality.
* Support site visits and carry out ad-hoc checks to maintain operational standards.
What You’ll Bring:
* A keen eye for detail and strong organisational skills – especially useful in auditing and compliance.
* Great communication skills to liaise confidently with internal teams and external suppliers.
* Experience in service delivery, operations, or waste management – industry knowledge is a plus.
* A collaborative mindset and the ability to manage escalations and problem-solve effectively.
* Familiarity with Microsoft Office and relevant compliance tools or systems.
What We Offer:
At Southern Water, we’re passionate about protecting the environment and providing outstanding service to our customers. That starts with supporting our people. Join us and you’ll get:
* 25 days of annual leave + bank holidays
* Up to 11% employer pension contributions
* BUPA cash plan cover and access to a digital GP
* Study support for job-related qualifications
* Cycle to work scheme & electric vehicle salary sacrifice scheme
* Life assurance (4x salary), performance bonus, and more
You’ll also have the opportunity to work on a range of projects across our waste operations, giving you exposure to different areas of the business and a platform to grow your career.
You will partake in an out of hours rota to support with incident management; full training and rota details will be shared at interview.
