We are seeking a clinical psychologist who is passionate about promoting the emotional health and wellbeing of children and young people with developmental delay or disability and their families. You will be committed, creative and have a clear understanding of the challenges faced by these children and their systems of support. The ability to work innovatively and collaboratively with children, young people and families towards co-created goals is essential to this role.
The post sits within the Children's Centre Psychology team, which works across Gwent and includes clinical psychologists, assistant psychologists, child development advisors, a parent carer counsellor and a parent carer peer mentor. Working together, supervision and CPD are seen as fundamental to this role and there are many opportunities to work alongside other members of the team, as well as connecting with the wider Gwent Child and Family Psychological Therapies service.
This post is Fixed Term/Secondment for 12 months due to maternity cover.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will play a key role in promoting the psychological wellbeing of children and young people with developmental delay or disability, their families and the systems that support them. The successful candidate will work alongside other members of the team through:
1. Provision of high quality psychological information and advice, dissemination of specialist resources and workshops for families and staff.
2. Provision of psychological support, consultation and joint working with staff and families.
3. Therapeutic work with children and young people with developmental delay or disability and their families through individual work, family work and therapeutic groups.
4. Engaging in clinical supervision to support practice development, conducting and carrying out research and audit on the provision of the service.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* HCPC Registered Practitioner Psychologist
* Honours degree in Psychology giving eligibility for graduate membership of the BPS
* Postgraduate doctoral level training in practitioner psychology or equivalent
* Interest in or experience of applied health psychology
* Knowledge of therapeutic orientation related to needs of child or YP in Paediatric Psychology/Helping Hands/IPBS service
* Good grasp of the professional issues affecting Psychologists in NHS and familiar with relevant key strategic documents
Experience
* 3 year Doctorate training across a range of client groups including Children and Young People
* Experience of working in NHS Psychology Services and familiar with professional practice of Practitioner Psychologist as specified by the DCP/BPS guidelines
* Experience of delivering psychological interventions in a group setting
* Experience of working with people with physical health problems or other long term conditions
* Experience of working with developmental difficulties
* Experience of applied clinical research and service evaluation
