The project:
Our client is one of the largest water companies in the UK, responsible for water and wastewater services in England. Their purpose is to deliver their services in an environmentally sustainable, economically beneficial, and socially responsible manner and create sustainable long-term value for all. We currently provide the client with a range of services focused on programme and project management and are always looking for opportunities to deliver more value through the provision of expert and strategic staff.
To plan and lead the successful delivery of a programme of works being delivered by an 'Area delivery team' made up of the client's partners and contractors in accordance with their corporate values and following requirements: health and safety strategy, target operating model, and outcomes.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Promoting Mace's value of safety first, exhibiting visible safety behaviours, sharing lessons learned, and using safety moments and Mace's HSW framework to support the safety and wellbeing of all Mace staff.
* Possessing technical expertise in local health and safety rules and regulations relevant to the project portfolio.
* Championing a diverse and inclusive working environment, and understanding the importance of the wellbeing of the people in your team.
* Ensuring quality systems are suitably managed in line with service excellence.
* Delivering and managing project plans from project inception/brief, through design development and planning, contractor procurement, and construction phase in accordance with the overall delivery program and agreed project milestones.
* Managing tasks and associated deliverables in support of senior project managers and other leaders, alongside the wider project and client teams, to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of the project.
* Owning projects throughout the project lifecycle from concept to handover and closeout.
* Preparing, updating, and implementing the project management plan whilst proactively monitoring overall progress, the interdependencies, and resolving issues/mitigating risks.
* Driving the design development, initiating surveys and site visits as necessary.
* Undertaking the contract administration responsibilities and having a thorough understanding of the NEC3/4 suite of contracts.
* Ensuring projects are delivered to the right quality, in the time allocated and at, or below the approved budget.
* Writing specifications, tender and contract documents to include project risk registers, schedules, and others.
* Ensuring compliance with project environmental, health and safety, water quality, and environmental standards.
* Managing contractors to ensure that the execution of projects is undertaken to the satisfaction of our client.
* Understanding client requirements and having strong stakeholder engagement to deal with complex third-party relations.
You'll need to have:
* A degree in engineering, construction and/or project management discipline and a member of a relevant institute such as ICE, IMechE, IET, IChemE or RICS.
* 10+ years project management experience.
* Water sector experience is preferred, although experience within a regulated infrastructure environment will also be considered.
* Digitally savvy with familiarity in using project management tools such as Oracle and Primavera P6.
* A Full UK Driving Licence is essential.
You'll also have:
* Membership of RICS, CIOB, APM, ICE or equivalent demonstrable professional or personal development.
* Property or infrastructure project management expertise.
* Commercial and financial acumen.
* Experience of working on projects within large, diverse teams.
* Knowledge of how carbon and sustainability considerations will shape the outlook of the projects you are working on.
