We are looking for a motivated, proactive and exceptional individual to join the Patient Safety team. The Quality Lead position involves complex analysis of incidents to identify learning for the Trust using the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF) methodology.
You will need to be proactive, thorough and unbiased and able to communicate exceptionally well with staff, families, senior management and external stakeholders. This is a pressurised role – time management skills and the ability to prioritise your workload and manage a team are essential. Responsibilities include:
1. Support the Patient Safety Manager and Head of Clinical Governance in the management of the Trust's Patient Safety Incident Response plan (PSIRP) and ensure that the Trust meets statutory and national obligations to contribute to continued improved service delivery.
2. Be an expert in learning responses, techniques and practice; embrace and embed new ways of working with the implementation of the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF).
3. Employ suitable investigation techniques applicable to incidents of concern or complaint.
4. Undertake formal incident investigations, producing high quality investigation reports and presenting findings to the Patient Safety Oversight Group and other stakeholders.
5. Facilitate After Action Review (AAR) meetings ensuring that staff are supported to have open and transparent discussions about incidents to extract as much learning for the organisation as possible.
6. Provide expert advice to Trust committees, groups, managers, staff and legal representatives on Patient Safety and Operational quality issues.
7. Provide expert advice and support to appointed Investigating Officers responsible for patient safety learning responses and serious complaints, drawing on experience.
8. Attend relevant Trust/External meetings to provide learning points from learning responses and develop Trust practice.
9. Manage staff within the Patient Safety team.
