About the Role: As an SEN Support Worker, you will be instrumental in providing tailored support to pupils with a range of special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties and complex learning disabilities. Working alongside teachers, SENCOs and therapists, you will create a structured, engaging and nurturing learning environment that allows every pupil to develop academically, socially and emotionally. Responsibilities of SEN Support Worker: Provide one-to-one and small group support, helping pupils develop confidence in their learning. Assist with the implementation of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), tailoring learning strategies to meet diverse needs. Encourage positive behaviour management techniques, helping pupils build self-regulation skills. Support pupils with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties, fostering self-esteem and resilience. Work collaboratively with teachers and therapists to ensure a holistic approach to learning and development. Facilitate sensory-based learning for pupils with sensory processing needs, using appropriate interventions. Assist with personal care and mobility where necessary, ensuring dignity and respect at all times. Encourage the development of life skills and independence, preparing pupils for future success. Monitor pupil progress, provide feedback to staff and contribute to personalised learning plans. What We’re Looking For: Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN in an educational, care, or support role is highly desirable. A relevant qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning, Health and Social Care, or SEN is advantageous. A solid understanding of SEN strategies, including autism support, sensory integration, PECs, or Makaton, is beneficial. A patient, empathetic and adaptable approach, with the ability to remain calm in challenging situations. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to build meaningful connections with pupils, staff and parents.
