As a Trading Standards Enforcement Officer for a north London Borough, you'll define and enforce the systems and policies that will ensure all businesses and premises in the borough meet the highest standards. With a strong working knowledge of consumer law and the ability to carry out investigations fully and efficiently, you'll help make daily life better for local residents.

What you'll be doing:
1. Enforcing appropriate legislation (food, pest, housing) and advising businesses on compliance standards through site visits.
2. Contributing to and leading special projects and investigations as directed by the group manager.
3. Undertaking inspections and searches of relevant premises, either by prior arrangement or unannounced, as required including weights and measures inspections.
4. Responding to and investigating reports and complaints received under relevant criminal and civil law.
5. Attending and contributing to meetings, lectures, seminars, and other training and development courses.
6. Mentoring and supporting the development of new or junior staff.
What we're looking for:
1. Experience conducting sound regulatory and enforcement practice.
2. Excellent understanding and up-to-date knowledge of Trading Standards legislation as well as key international, national, regional, and local policy developments.
3. A full clean current driving licence, and access to a vehicle.
4. Excellent administrative practice and experience of governance requirements.
5. Experience of working with a range of partners and organisations.
6. A diploma or equivalent in Trading Standards is desirable.
