Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant

Newstaff are looking for a compassionate and experienced SEN Teaching Assistants on behalf of a dedicated and inclusive SEN school that provides exceptional education and support to students with a wide range of special educational needs. Role Overview:
To support students with special educational needs on a one-to-one or small group basis, assisting with both academic and personal development. You will work closely with teachers and other support staff to create a nurturing and tailored learning experience that meets the individual needs of each student.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist students with various learning difficulties, including physical, sensory, cognitive, and emotional challenges.
* Support the teacher in the planning, preparation, and delivery of lessons.
* Help students to engage with the curriculum and develop their social, communication, and academic skills.
* Provide emotional and behavioral support, ensuring students feel safe and valued.
* Help with classroom management and behavior interventions.
* Collaborate with the teaching staff to assess and monitor student progress and development.
* Attend meetings, training, and contribute to the development of individualized learning plans (IEPs).
Key Requirements:
* At least 12 months experience working with children, ideally within an SEN setting.
* Understanding of various special educational needs and strategies to support learning.
* Patience, empathy, and the ability to adapt to the individual needs of students.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Team player with a flexible and proactive approach.
* Experience with specific learning difficulties such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Dyslexia, or ADHD.
* Knowledge of assistive technologies and resources to support SEN students.
* A DBS will be required – we can assist you on this.
