This post provides strong compassionate, transformational, and inclusive leadership, with a visible, senior presence for nursing, allied health professionals (AHP) and learners across the Division of Surgery. The matron will work strategically to ensure the Nursing/AHP workforce is adaptive to patient requirements and be accountable for the delivery of optimum education, retention and resourcing, in line with the ten key matron responsibilities outlined nationally. The post-holder will act as the division’s point of contact for the development of accredited academic courses, whilst leading retention and resourcing for nursing and AHPs.
As Matron the post holder is expected to ensure that the planning of services involves patients and service users, and reflects the diverse population served. There is an expectation that the post holder will work closely with other matrons, Divisional Directors of Nursing and their deputies, and relevant clinical and non-clinical colleagues within the division and the wider Trust, linking with Universities, Colleges and other stakeholders as required.
