East Kootenay Regional Hospital has an exciting opportunity for a Relief full-time Medical Transcriptionist to join their team in Cranbrook, B.C.!
This position works rotating days and evenings: 09:00 to 17:00, 13:00 to 21:00.
Days of Work:
Wednesday to Sunday; Evenings Saturday/Sunday every second week.
Days off:
Monday, Tuesday, STAT.
Position end date:
Upon return of incumbent.

What Will You Work On?
The Medical Transcriptionist transcribes, interprets, and edits dictation for multiple clinical disciplines and diagnostic departments.
Responsibilities:
* Transcribes, interprets, and edits dictation for the health record such as consultations, operative reports, discharge summaries, and diagnostic reports for multiple clinical disciplines using approved transcription and speech recognition software according to established standards and guidelines.
* Ensures content, grammar, punctuation, and format are correct by clarifying inconsistencies with the dictating physician, reviewing reference material, and/or referring to PPL (or designate).
* Carries out assigned duties as per department standards and guidelines, prioritizing tasks accordingly.
* Assists with inquiries regarding the status of jobs or requests for prioritized dictation in accordance with established policies and procedures.
* Reviews job performance feedback provided by the Transcription Leadership team and integrates it into work practices.
* Performs clerical duties such as answering telephones, maintaining files and records, typing documents/reports/correspondence, and distributing transcribed reports.
* Participates in continuous quality improvement activities by providing input/feedback to the PPL (or designate) on work procedures and opportunities for process improvement.
* Assists with orienting new staff and/or students by demonstrating work procedures and office equipment/systems.
* Performs other related duties as assigned.
What should your application include?
* A 5-minute typing test (60+ NWPM) from a recognized institution, completed within the past 48 months (non-supervised tests not accepted).
* A Medical Transcription Certificate.
* Your Resume outlining one year of recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
* A Cover Letter stating your availability to start in a new position and on-call, casual work (i.e. days of the week).
