About the role
At Tesco, we believe in the power of spending more time together, face to face, than apart. So, during your working week, you can expect to spend 60% of your time in one of our office locations or local sites and the rest remotely. We also recognise that life looks a little different for each of us. Some people are at the start of their careers, some want the freedom to do the things they love. Others are going through life-changing moments like becoming a carer, nearing retirement, adapting to parenthood, or something else. That’s why at Tesco, we always welcome a conversation about flexible working. So, talk to us throughout your application about how we can support.
Reporting into the Head of Financial Controls, you will be responsible for shaping and embedding our Key Financial Controls Framework across Finance. You will be closely connected to the day- to- day operation of our finance processes, working collaboratively across a number of stakeholders to provide expert guidance on financial controls design.
Strengthening Tesco’s control environment will be a key objective, particularly in light of recent corporate governance reform, and this position will sit within the team tasked with making these things happen, providing significant opportunity to raise your profile across the Group.
In the team you’ll be surrounded by a group of other experienced risk and control professionals, who are available for support and discussion, but you’re also given the independence and autonomy to go about your role in the way that best suits you.

* Designing our annual control monitoring programme and ongoing review and update to our internal control methodology.
* Performing quality assurance over control testing performed by junior resources.
* Preparing reporting, including to Senior Management and the Audit Committee, on the results of our control testing.
* General ad hoc second line of defence activities – providing advice to the first line on controls, preparing and delivering training on controls, investigating control failures.
* Supporting our controls culture, running training, information sessions and building control communities.
You will need
* Accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
* Experience in internal controls, preferably financial controls, covering design, implementation, improvement or testing.
* Solid understanding of key financial process cycles (e.g. Record to Report, Procure to Pay).
