Anderselite is currently working with a leading consultancy in the residential sector to recruit a Senior Architectural Technician for their Planning Department. This role is ideal for an experienced technician seeking to take a step up in responsibility, with the potential to move into a project leadership position. You’ll collaborate with internal teams and external consultants to deliver high-quality planning application packages and technical design support.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Prepare all necessary drawings and documentation for planning application submissions.
2. Co-ordinate and integrate consultant information.
3. Amend planning packs in line with feedback from authorities.
4. Design layouts for residential house types and flat blocks (floor plans, elevations).
5. Develop planning layouts, road infrastructure, and landscape plans.
6. Create street scenes and visual presentation materials (coloured plans, 3D views).
7. Draft Design & Access Statements, Planning Statements, and Supporting Documentation.
8. Discharge planning conditions through submission of relevant material.
9. Attend design team meetings both on-site and in client offices.
Additional Technical Duties:
1. Support the technical team with project deadlines.
2. Produce comprehensive working drawing packages (floor plans, sections, elevations, joist layouts, etc.).
3. Develop external works layouts (road layouts, boundaries, landscaping).
4. Review third-party consultant/supplier input and incorporate into technical drawings.
Requirements:
1. Strong experience in the residential housing sector.
2. Knowledge of UK planning processes, building regulations, and design guides.
3. Attention to detail and a good eye for layout and urban design.
4. Proficient in AutoCAD.
5. Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop & InDesign.
6. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
7. Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
8. IT literate (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
9. Full UK driving licence and own transport.
10. Willingness to travel as required.
Qualifications:
1. ONC/HNC in a construction-related discipline.
2. Minimum 3 GCSEs at grade C or above (including Maths and English).
Desirable:
1. Hand sketching or sketch layout ability.
2. Experience with SketchUp and/or Revit.
