Job overview
A new opportunity has arisen to support the clinical leadership and training of the Children’s Complex Care team in Birmingham and to ensure the highest level of nursing care is delivered to some of our most vulnerable children.
The successful applicant will need to be able to deliver evidenced based clinical training and support to a large team of Health Care Assistants within a Competency Based Framework.

Main duties of the job
The team works as part of a multi-disciplinary system supporting children and families to live as independently as possible away from hospital. There will be an expectation to undertake training and competency testing of Health Care Assistants, to organise and participate in clinical skills days, to oversee staff mandatory training, to undertake audit, to work with other educational teams across Children & Families division.
Person specification
Qualification and Training
* Registered first level Children’s Nurse or RSCN who holds effective registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council
* Recognised teaching qualification e.g. ENB 998 or equivalent
Experience
* Substantial post qualification experience across a range of children’s nursing
* Experience in long term ventilation
* Ability to demonstrate relevant effective learning from this experience
* Experience of supervising staff
Skills/Knowledge
* Must demonstrate a wide range of clinical skills.
* Competent in developing training packages and deliver formal training to groups and individuals
* Ability to communicate/liaise effectively with professionals in all relevant agencies and at all levels
* Demonstrate ability to work effectively to deliver training with a range of professionals with specialist knowledge
