Alfred H Knight has an exciting opportunity for a Deputy Senior Chemist to join the team in Dundonald, UK. Working with the Senior Chemist to ensure that an effective and high-quality analytical service is provided to meet reporting deadlines on the various types of samples and commodities submitted to the laboratory for analytical evaluation. Effective management of the Chemistry Lab and personnel on a day-to-day basis, deputizing for the Senior Chemist in their absence.
They will be responsible for carrying out analytical methods and standard operating practices without supervision to a high degree of precision and accuracy, ensuring that an effective and high-quality analytical service is provided. Carrying out method development and validation within the chemistry section using a number of analytical instrument techniques including GCMS, ICPMS, and IC.
They will ensure full compliance with the company's ISO 17025 accreditation, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001 certifications.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND WORK EXPERIENCE
* Minimum 5 years experience within a laboratory analytical setting.
* Minimum 3 years experience in method validation and development.
* Experience of managing people.

* Good knowledge and experience working with techniques such as GCMS, ICP-MS, and IC.
* Troubleshooting knowledge and general problem solving.

Required Qualifications
* HNC or HND in Science related subjects or equivalent as a minimum.
* Science degree preferable.
