Job overview
Applications are invited for the post of Director of Nursing – High Secure Services. This is a pivotal role and is a rare and exciting opportunity to provide the overall clinical leadership of Broadmoor Hospital.
The post holder will ensure that all aspects of nursing and multi-disciplinary care is delivered to agreed high standards which provide the best possible experience and outcome to service users across services in the Clinical Service Unit (CSU). They will provide professional leadership, supporting nursing and other staff to bring about service transformation and improved patient care, and will develop expert nursing practice and clinical leadership at a local level.
The post holder will contribute to work on strengthening care pathways and service developments to ensure they are safe and sound and evidence based, this will include taking a lead on PCREF and PSII initiatives.
We are looking for a versatile, enthusiastic and experienced professional who has proven leadership and clinical skills, who is focused on ensuring that patients within the hospital receive the highest standards of care and who will lead by example and be highly visible within the hospital.

* Registered Mental Health Nurse
* Master’s Degree or equivalent Qualification
* Completed Clinical Supervision Training

Experience
Essential criteria
* Five years’ experience at a senior management level, including managing change and introducing new ways of working for mental health nurses and practitioners
* Experience of delivery of forensic mental health care
* Demonstration of sound and effective leadership skills
* Experience of undertaking work requiring intense concentration in unpredictable circumstances with frequent interruptions.
* Experience of setting, monitoring and evaluating standards of care
* Experience of, or awareness of specific issues of working in a culturally diverse inner city area
* Experience of preparing and presenting reports at Executive level
* Experience of setting therapeutic boundaries with patients who exhibit extreme challenging and high risk behaviours, that require advanced interventions to enable effective de-escalation
