Detailed job description and main responsibilities
We are a large Acute Teaching Hospital of approximately 1300 beds. Our pharmacy department has an innovative approach to pharmaceutical care with a ward-based technician service and pharmacist led clinics. We have strong links with the Medical School at Warwick University and the department of Medicines Management at Keele University.
You will be based at University Hospital Coventry, a PFI hospital opened in 2006 which is situated just off the junction of the M6 and M69.
Laboratory Testing:
1. Support the QA Manager in maintaining appropriate Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards within the Quality Control Laboratory.
2. Carry out a range of chemical, physical and microbiological testing to assist in the analysis of starting materials and final products to evaluate compliance with specifications, and to perform such tasks as may be necessary, including: assay testing and sterility testing.
3. Assist with the preparation of reagents required for the range of QC tests.
4. Assist with visual and chemical identification of microbiological isolates.
5. Carry out testing, as required, to assist in the stability evaluation of a range of aseptically prepared products.
6. Assist in the maintenance and calibration of laboratory instruments and equipment.
