Regional Resource Manager
Reporting to the Operations Resource Manager, each Regional Resource Manager will be responsible for ensuring that the correct level of driver and vehicle resources are in place at all terminals in their region and providing the planning team with a diary of these from which to plan each day.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
The job holder is responsible for;
Maintaining short, medium and long term awareness of the resource requirements in your region and ensuring that resource levels are in place to meet client demands.
Maintaining accurate records of resource allocation
Providing regular updates to the Head of Department on resource management performance.
Assisting in development and implementation of strategies to improve resource utilisation.
Liaising with the appropriate planners on a daily basis in order to flex resources up and down in order to maximise efficiency whilst maintaining the highest levels of customer service.
Authorising all drivers holiday and other absence requests
Working 4 weeks in advance, ensure that any driver resource shortfalls are covered in the first instance through local overtime, then through cross-contracting, then through booking agency resource and subcontractors.
Where necessary, engaging with clients in order to provide updates on upcoming resource provision
Developing strong working relationships with planners and drivers in order to maximise the benefit of those relationships
Acting as duty manager on a rota basis with full responsibility for managing operational issues that occur during this time. This includes dealing with incidents on a desktop basis where possible, and resolving resource shortfalls.
Hours of work:
Monday to Friday (37.5 hours per week) with one hours unpaid lunch break per day. Normal office hours are Monday to Friday 9.00 - 17.30. Duty Manager responsibilities on a rota basis will include a mix of early and late shifts between the hours of 7.30am and 8pm on weekdays and weekends between the hours of 9am and 5.30pm. When working late shifts that require office presence until 8pm, you will also be expected to be available between the hours of 8pm and 10pm on an on-call basis. Where a weekend is worked, an equal amount of time off in lieu will be awarded.
Our ideal candidate will:
Have experience in resource management or relevant planning
Have experience of engaging with drivers on a regular basis
Have knowledge of ATOSS beneficial but not essential
Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Have strong organisational skills and the ability to multi-task
Have the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Hold a valid UK driving licence
Live within a commutable distance
Success in the role will be measured through the balance of shift provision for your individual region, overall team performance and stock levels.
