NHS Lanarkshire has an opportunity for a Medical Laboratory Assistant - Pathology, based within University Hospital Monklands.
The Role
The Medical Laboratory Assistant collects and prepares materials and clinical specimens for analysis, ensures the safe disposal of clinical waste, registers patient-related information onto Laboratory Information System or other manual systems. You will handle reception and telephone queries from staff and external agencies, assist Biomedical Scientists in providing laboratory services, and perform specific tests under supervision. Pathology posts will also involve receiving, storing, and releasing deceased patients from the mortuary, and assisting in training new or less experienced staff.

What we'll need you to bring
* Standard Grade English and a Science Subject essential.
* A good understanding of Biomedical Science.
* Knowledge of anatomy and physiology is preferred; training will be provided.
* Extended supervised training for at least one year, equivalent to NVQ Level 3.
* High awareness of Infection Control Policies and Procedures.
* Good keyboard skills and manual dexterity.
* Commitment to ongoing personal development through meetings and courses.
It would be great if you also have
* A full, valid UK/EU/EEA driving license.

Location
This role is based in Pathology within University Hospital Monklands. Shortlisted applicants may be considered for similar roles in other locations.
