SEN Casework Practitioner (Temporary Contract)

Role
We are seeking an experienced SEN Casework Practitioner to join Wokingham Council on a temporary basis. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to high-quality services for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
Responsibilities
- EHCP and SEND Processes: Support the completion and management of Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs), ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and actively involving children and their families in decision-making.
- SEND Tribunal Expertise: Provide guidance and expertise in SEND Tribunal processes, including appeals and dispute resolution.
- Multi-Agency Collaboration: Participate in multi-agency meetings, offering insights and strategies to meet the needs of children and achieve positive outcomes.
- Record Management: Maintain accurate and detailed records of work with children and families, ensuring data is used effectively to monitor progress and inform practice.
- Efficient Workload Management: Manage tasks effectively, meeting deadlines and operating within financial constraints.
- Teamwork: Collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team, fostering strong partnerships and contributing SEND expertise.
- Professional Development: Engage in training opportunities and peer support networks with other SEND professionals.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- Educational Background: Minimum of GCSEs in English and Maths (grade C or above), with relevant post-qualification training and experience.
- SEN Experience: Demonstrable experience in the SEN field and a strong understanding of statutory SEND processes.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with local authority functions or experience within large, complex organisations.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to produce detailed and accurate reports.
- Administrative Skills: Proficient in record-keeping and data management to support service delivery and performance monitoring.
- Collaboration: A team-oriented approach with a commitment to inclusion and alignment with core council values.
- Advocacy: A champion for inclusive education and SEND services.
- Driving Licence: Full UK driving licence is essential.
