Web Security Application Analyst - EMEA - Hybrid, based London
Leveraging our growing security product suite, a Web Security Application Analyst contributes real-world security insights to Fastly and our customers as we address Internet-scale threats. Cloud security solutions enable our customers to benefit from extra visibility across the world and expertise from a central team.
The Customer Security Operations Center (CSOC) team provides operational support for Fastly’s security products and services. Analysts within this team focus on delivering outstanding security services to our customers.
What You'll Do:
You will be responsible for monitoring and analyzing customer activity, like identifying account-takeover, bot attacks, DDoS attacks, and other malicious web traffic. The focus will be around attacks at the application layer.
1. Provide an outstanding response to customer security issues and support.
2. Analyze web traffic and identify suspicious activity.
3. Triaging and responding to incoming tickets and proactively detected alerts.
4. Write, contribute to, and review security reports.
5. Manage security configurations for our customers.
6. New alert creations.
7. New attack mitigations.
8. Modification of existing controls.
9. Respond to tickets and alerts in accordance with established Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
10. Contribute to the processes and policies that scale our organization as we grow.
What We're Looking For:
1. Strong interest in infosec and application security.
2. Working knowledge of core internet technologies like DNS, HTTP & TLS.
3. An understanding of the OSI model and the ability to explain potential exploit methods at each layer.
4. Experience in any IT or security operations, technical support, or research-related role.
5. Proven ability to deliver exceptional customer experiences.
6. Desire to contribute to the processes and policies that scale our organization as we grow.
7. Assist with the maintenance of existing runbooks and identifying when a new one should be created.
8. Desire to work and learn on one's own initiative but in a supportive team environment.
9. Fluency in English (both spoken and written) required and the ability to adapt content for different audiences.
10. Connecting with clients to address concerns or escalations; track and drive to closure any issues that impact the service and its value to clients.
11. Scripting ability in popular coding languages.
We’ll be super impressed if you have experience in any of these:
1. Kubernetes or other orchestration platform experience.
2. Experience using any of Python, Go, Shell Scripting.
3. Analysis with log visualization tools (Grafana, Prometheus, Looker, Splunk, Elastic/ELK, or others).
4. Web/Application server technologies and frameworks.
5. Cloud ecosystem knowledge & experience.
Work Hours:
This position will require you to be available during core business hours, 9am to 6pm Tuesday to Saturday.
Work Location(s) & Travel Requirements:
This position is a hybrid position based out of our London office 2 days per week. This position will require travel to the US and internationally, as required by your role or requested by your manager.
