We are seeking to appoint a Kitchen Assistant to work alongside our school cook. The role will mainly comprise of assisting our cook with meal preparation, setting out and cleaning away the dining hall furniture, serving food to pupils, assisting with washing up and cleaning after service.
The successful applicant:
1. will either hold or be willing to undertake relevant food handling training and any other qualifications relevant to the post.
2. should be able to work as part of a team and be friendly and approachable.
3. is highly motivated with lots of energy, while being flexible, adaptable and able to use their own initiative.
4. has an excellent attendance record.
Please be aware that we are a rural school west of Carlisle and sadly there is no public bus service; therefore, applicants need to have a reliable source of transport to be able to get to and from work each day.
The job is Term Time only with an additional week allocated to allow for school holiday deep cleans (split over the school year). All holidays need to be taken within the school closure periods.

Essential Qualifications:
1. Food Hygiene Level 2 (or willing to undertake training upon appointment).
2. Safeguarding Level 1 (or willing to undertake training upon appointment).
Essential Experience:
1. Previous experience in a school kitchen or other kitchen is an advantage but not essential.
2. Commitment to safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children and young people.
