Hybrid pattern: 3 days onsite/week
Salary: £65,000 - £75.000 depending on experience
An opportunity has arisen for a Lead Software Engineer. The successful applicant will be responsible for working on the graphics and CAD components that are used in MODUS and other products throughout the business. This opportunity would suit a candidate who is looking to further their career by taking responsibility for these components and technically leading this new team. This role will be technically focused with managerial responsibility for the small team - including mentoring and performance management. Good knowledge of C++ is required along with overall software engineering practices.
Responsibilities
1. Building Windows components for use within the manufacturing industry
2. Working within an agile team to breakdown stories into manageable tasks
3. Writing tests to ensure products that are produced are of suitable quality
4. Working with Product Owners and other members of the wider group to break down feature requests into manageable work
5. Taking full ownership of software products to ensure design and implementation are completed to a good level
6. Knowledge of graphics and CAD would be desirable
7. Technically leading a small team of Software Engineers
Key requirements
8. Educated to at least degree level in a technical subject; OR the ability to demonstrate comparable applied knowledge and expertise to an equivalent level.
9. Demonstrable commercial knowledge of C++
10. Good experience of C# and the .Net frameworks especially WPF
11. Knowledge of best practice for software design and design patterns
12. Experience of using standard software engineering tools e.g. Git, Azure DevOps, Atlassian tools
13. Ability to technically lead and motivate a team and monitor progress
14. Setting objectives for team members
15. Desire to continue to learn and improve through continuous improvement
16. Willing to take on occasional travel with a full and valid passport and driving licence
17. Role is permanent, full time and ideally based at New Mills but other UK sites will be considered. Travel to other UK sites will be required
