We are looking for a Strategic Buyer & Demand Planner to join our headquarters in Barnsley, UK.
How you will contribute
In this role you will be responsible for enhancing procurement processes, managing and expanding supplier relationships, and aligning supply chain operations with business objectives. Reporting to the Managing Director, the role requires close collaboration with internal teams, suppliers, and other stakeholders to support the overall business strategy and meet dynamic market demands.
Your main responsibilities will include:
* Strategic Sourcing: Identify and develop supply opportunities to maintain a competitive supplier base.
* Supplier Relationship Management: Establish and maintain strong supplier relationships for quality compliance and reliable supply.
* Supplier Performance Monitoring: Assess supplier performance in price, quality, delivery, and compliance, taking corrective actions as needed.
* Demand Forecasting: Maintain accurate forecasts based on historical data, market trends, and sales insights.
* Inventory Optimization: Work with logistics and warehouse teams to maintain optimal inventory levels.
* Scenario Planning: Develop contingency plans for demand spikes and supply disruptions.
* Price Negotiation: Secure the best terms for pricing, delivery, and payment conditions with suppliers.
* Cost Analysis & Budgeting: Identify cost-saving opportunities and provide accurate cost forecasts.
* Audit Support: Support Quality & Regulatory during audits and ensure compliance.
* Risk Management & Innovation: Identify supply chain risks and drive continuous improvement.
* Cross-Functional Collaboration: Align supply chain strategies with sales, export, finance, and quality teams.
What you will need
* Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
* Advanced certifications in procurement or supply chain management (e.g., CPSM, APICS) are highly desirable.
* Digital Proficiency: Demonstrated experience in implementing, managing, and working with digital supply chain systems (e.g., ERP, demand planning software).
* Network Building: Extensive network within the industry that can be leveraged to identify new supply opportunities and build strategic relationships.
* Negotiation Excellence: Proven track record in negotiating contracts and agreements that deliver value.
* Analytical Thinking: Strong ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
* Communication: Excellent verbal and written skills to influence and persuade stakeholders.
* Problem-Solving & Adaptability: Creative and solution-oriented approach with flexibility to adjust strategies as needed.
* Leadership & Collaboration: Strong leadership skills with a focus on teamwork and cross-functional coordination.
* Willingness to Travel: Open to travel as required for the role.
