Main duties of the job The service has its main bases at Hatfield and Stevenage Police Stations. The team work across Hertfordshire in police custody, the Magistrates’ Courts, and Crown Court; you will be expected to work across all bases. We will also be working with Voluntary Attendees. The service operates from 8am to 8pm seven days a week and you will be expected to work to a rota which will include working some 11 hour shifts subject to negotiation and the demands of the service. You will also have knowledge and/or experience of working with one or more of the above identified groups of people and this could be in the NHS, the Local Authority, CAMHS, or other services such as alcohol and substance misuse services. Most importantly, you will be dynamic and persevering in your work, be naturally enquiring and inquisitive, have excellent risk assessment and report writing skills, and the ability to quickly establish and develop rapport with service users and carers.Appointment will be subject to successful police vetting. We are a small unique and friendly team, working in a setting that you will not normally encounter in your career. We are close knit with specialist knowledge that we are pleased to share with our colleagues in other parts of the community. We are recognised by many of our colleagues as the go to people for advice when their service users are distressed by being with in the criminal justice system.
