About the role
Animal Welfare League Queensland (AWLQ) is currently looking for a permanent Part-time Veterinary Nurse to join our Ipswich Animal Rehoming Centre. There is a minimum of 2 shifts per week with the opportunity for additional shifts plus some public holiday and weekend work.

You will join a dedicated professional team focused on caring for animals to achieve positive outcomes through treatment, fostering and adoption. You will work with the veterinary team facilitating the efficient flow of animals through the centre so they can go on to find their forever homes.
You will liaise with multiple staff, departments, and foster carers daily so strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to multi-task are a must.
Key Responsibilities
1. Consult Support: Support veterinarians with routine health examinations and medical cases.
2. Foster Care Assistance: Assist veterinarians with foster carer consultations.
3. Nursing Support: Assist in radiography, surgical procedures, monitor patient anesthesia and post-operative procedures, in-house and external pathology procedures, prepare medications as required.
4. Inpatient Care: Nurse hospitalised animals, monitor clinical signs, and communicate with the team.
5. Organisation Pro: Prepare and implement surgery and consult schedules.
6. Patient files: Data entry of health, treatment and behaviour information.
7. Processes: Compliance with AWLQ policy and procedure, in addition to compliance with state and federal legislation.
What are the minimum requirements for this position?
* Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or recognised equivalent.
* Ideally 3+ years' vet nursing experience.
* Excellent animal handling skills, and experience with anxious animals in the clinic environment.
* Experience in a busy, fast-paced work environment.
* Previous experience in a shelter/rescue environment will be highly regarded.
