We are a small and friendly team that includes a range of dietitians from senior to newly qualified, dietetic assistants and secretarial support. Professional development is encouraged and supported through supervision and objective setting.
We are a department inclusive of dietitians, occupational therapists, physiotherapists and assistants so we are truly integrated and have great relationships between the different disciplines and teams.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an enthusiastic, innovative and proactive dietitian, with good clinical knowledge, communication and team working skills to join our staff bank working alongside our Adult Acute Dietetic Team at the James Paget University Hospital on an as and when basis. You will provide cover to a range of wards including stroke, surgical, orthopaedic, respiratory, cardiology and care of the elderly assessing and implementing treatment programmes providing nutrition support and working closely with the MDT to ensure patients are receiving the right nutrition during their stay with us. The post-holder may also have opportunities to cover outpatient clinics comprising of patients with a range of conditions including IBD, type 2 diabetes, coeliac disease, weight management, nutrition support, irritable bowel syndrome, neurological conditions, lipid modification and oncology.
All dietitians are actively involved in student training and host training to placement students from The University of Hertfordshire. You will be actively involved in these training programmes and in the development, implementation and audit of patient care practices as part of clinical governance.

Knowledge and Experience
* Postgraduate Diploma/Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics
* Current Health and Care Professions Council registration
* CPD record should include evidence of in-service training and reflections of learning
* Band 5 experience in a range of clinical areas within the NHS
* Experience of enteral feeding
* Evidence of acting in a supervisory manner, providing specialist guidance, training to other staff or students
* Experience of working with a range of professionals within multidisciplinary teams
* Awareness of relevant professional practice, new research and guidelines
Skills, Abilities and Competencies
* Competent to convey highly complex information in an understandable way
* Communication skills including empathy, assertiveness and negotiation skills
* Ability to build good rapport with a wide variety of people
* Ability to prioritise and organise workload and support others with this
* Ability to act as a confident and autonomous practitioner with minimum supervision
