To assist with the day to day operation of The Family Haven Nursery. In the absence of the manager, to ensure qualified staff are in place to deliver high quality nursery education and care following the welfare requirements under the national governing body recommendations (EYFS). To also deputise for the nursery manager in their absence.
Accountabilities:
1. To assist in ensuring safe day to day care including safety and cleanliness.
2. To undertake monthly planning activities and topics for children aged from 6 months up to pre-school age.
3. Will adhere to the staff handbook and Colleague code of conduct at all times.
4. Key worker for a cohort of children aged 6 months up to pre-school age. Responsible for ensuring all reports and records on each child’s progress are carried out appropriately and accurately keeping a good open communication with other day care providers for each child.
5. Lead the staff in regards to developing their curriculums.
6. To support all staff in gathering evidence throughout each year for a Quality Assurance Scheme, when required.
7. To administer First Aid where appropriate, recording any accidents accurately in the accident book, together with action taken.
8. To assist with the compliance of Health and Safety plus health and hygiene legislation as appropriate. Compliance with the health and safety at work act 1974 in which every person has a duty for their safety and the safety of others. To follow instruction by management and be the appointed person in regard to nursery health and safety in the absence of the manager for the nursery.
9. Assist and be accountable for safeguarding online security within the nursery. Ensuring children are not put at risk while at the setting. To be able to share knowledge with families at any time in relation to E-safety.
10. To assist and take responsibility in the absence of the manager for safeguarding children. This would be a supportive role with the centre manager when required.
11. To be aware and accountable when reporting concerns with regards to radicalisation of children and allegations against staff.
12. To ensure all resources are stored, maintained and used appropriately.
13. Assist the nursery manager in ensuring policies and procedures for both staff and nursery are up to date and adhered to.
14. To liaise with the managers of The Family Haven nursery and centre when required for meetings, discussions etc.
15. To produce monitoring reports when required for funding purposes. Contribute to news articles, updates for social media, newsletters and regularly add content to our private Face Group page.
16. Encourage parental involvement and promote The Family Haven and its activities.
17. Liaise closely with appropriate agencies and organisations such as primary schools and Gloucestershire County Council, health visitors, social workers and any other early years’ educators.
18. Responsible for the management and organisation of the nursery staff, including any workplace students, in the manager’s absence.
19. Assisting the manager in the day to day administration, record keeping and maintaining registers.
20. To assist in the daily planning and serving of children’s meals, taking special diets into consideration.
21. To help organise trips, visits and supervise accordingly.
22. To liaise with the nursery manager regarding their own personal development and appraisal.
23. To ensure the accident and incident books are filled in appropriately.
24. Give support and advice to parents with problems. Parents with immediate problems with their children must be given the time and assistance required in a positive, non-judgemental manner. If necessary, share with the FSW.
25. Adhere to General Data Protection Regulations when responsible for all necessary, staff, student, children and welfare documentation.
General accountabilities:
1. To deputise for the nursery manager in their absence.
2. To carry out responsibilities within an Equal Opportunities framework.
3. Attend all meetings as required.
4. To ensure strict confidentiality is maintained at all times.
5. Undertake regular training and development to update skills and knowledge as necessary.
6. To instil Fundamental British Values throughout all aspects of daily tasks and activities.
7. To assist in the induction of staff working within the nursery.
8. Carry out any other duties and responsibilities as may reasonably be directed by the nursery manager and/or The Family Haven Trustee Group.
Special Requirements:
1. NVQ3 in Childcare or NNEB or equivalent.
2. Enhanced DBS.
3. Paediatric First Aid Certificate.
4. Good health and physical and emotional stamina.
5. Designated Safeguarding Lead.
6. EYFS lead practitioner.
