The Commercial Manager will be responsible for managing all commercial aspects of projects, including the preparation and pricing of contracts, supporting the bid team, and collaborating with the design and delivery teams to deliver cost savings. This position is ideal for someone with a background in civil engineering and experience managing large-scale contracts in a contractor-driven environment.,
* Manage all commercial aspects of high-value contracts (over £50 million), including cost management, pricing, and contract preparation.
* Support the bid team with the commercial elements of tenders and proposals.
* Work closely with design and delivery teams to ensure effective cost management and the successful delivery of cost savings.
* Manage high-value contractual disputes to a successful conclusion.
* Oversee commercial governance across the project, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry standards.
* Provide commercial expertise to technical teams, facilitating the smooth progression of large-scale projects.
* Manage supplier relationships on a national level, ensuring the timely and cost-effective delivery of services and materials.
* Develop and implement commercial frameworks to optimize contract execution and financial performance.
* Lead risk management activities, identifying and mitigating risks throughout the project lifecycle.
* Conduct cost and value reporting to ensure project financials are on track and meet objectives.
Significant experience in the civil engineering industry, ideally from a main contractor background.
* Experience managing large-scale contracts (over £50 million), with a proven track record of commercial management.
* In-depth knowledge of civil engineering contracts, particularly NEC forms of contract.
* Strong project management skills, including procurement, contract, and financial management.
* Proven experience in managing supplier relationships and negotiating favourable terms.
* Practical experience in risk management and cost/value reporting.
* Understanding of commercial governance and its application in large-scale projects.
