Role Description
This is a temporary, site-based Sessional Learning Practitioner role located in the London Borough of Bromley.
As a Sessional Learning Practitioner, you will be responsible for facilitating family learning courses, undertaking any relevant safeguarding activity, and providing monitoring reports.
Main Duties
1. To facilitate and deliver a block of ‘Time to Talk’ family learning courses to parents/carers and their younger children, working with the Senior Operations Manager to adapt content if required.
2. To work with the Senior Operations Manager to coordinate sessional delivery.
3. To undertake referrals/signposting if additional support needs are identified in sessions.
4. To support parents/carers to be involved in their children’s learning journeys.
5. To complete post-session review forms.
6. To be familiar with the security procedures of venues (e.g., evacuation procedures and risk assessment) and maintain a high level of safety during sessional delivery.
7. Keep and maintain high quality, accurate records and produce reports and impact statements as required.
8. To be fully compliant with the GDPR.
9. To comply with all organisational policies.
10. To attend supervision and training sessions.

Person Specification
Experience
* Sound understanding of safeguarding procedures.
* Relevant, recent experience in delivering programmes or education that focuses on speech, language, and communication.
* Proven experience working with families.
* Excellent understanding of the social, emotional, and development needs of children under 5.
* Experience of recording, monitoring data, and retrieving information.
* Experience in facilitating and/or delivering group-based programmes or community-focused sessions.
Knowledge and Qualifications
* Educated to degree level in a relevant field (ideally education, early years, child development, social work), or evidence of recent and continuing professional development in relation to child development and/or family support practice.
* Qualified Teacher Status or SaLT (preferred).
* Level 2 Safeguarding.
* Evident awareness of child development and barriers to healthy child development.
* Knowledge of local safeguarding procedures.
Skills and Abilities
* Ability to work with parents/carers.
* Ability to work as a part of a team and on own initiative.
* Good IT skills including use of Microsoft Word, Office, internet, and email.
* Ability to communicate with people from diverse backgrounds, and strong communication skills to remove any barriers to access.
Additional
* Ability to commit to at least two of the proposed working blocks.
* Ability to commit to up to 7 hours of pre-learning and project information sessions in late May or early June.
* Have an active DBS Update Service subscription (enhanced).
Terms and Conditions - Fixed term (2 to 4 blocks)
Salary: £22.24 per hour/ QTS/SaLT £25.32 per hour (inclusive of annual leave allocation).
Working Pattern:
* Must be able to commit to at least two of the blocks below (please state which on application).
* Undertake 7 hours of pre-learning including eLearning and online group sessions.
* Attend a course block debrief session (online) 1 hour.
* Sessions are 1 hour 30 minutes, with time included for set up, close down, and reporting.
Contract type: Fixed term
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974) and does require a Disclosure and Barring Service check. Applicants must be prepared to disclose any convictions they may have and any orders which have been made against them.
