Teaching and Learning Support Assistant – May start
Phonics Specialist- Experience required in Read Write Inc. or Letters and Sounds
Experience required in planning and delivering small grouped intervention sessions centred around Reading and Writing development
Level 2 qualifications or above is a necessity
A small school in the heart of Fulwood, Preston have approached Teaching Personnel in order to source a specialist Teaching and Learning Support Assistant to work alongside the class teacher; planning and delivering high quality phonics intervention sessions. The role is to work from May half term in the Year 1 and Year 2 class (AM’s only). The successful candidate will be one who has good experiences working in lower primary years and someone who can use their own initiative to raise standards in Reading and Writing. The school are hoping to gain their best ever KS1 Reading and Writing results and to ensure they do this the Head teacher and SENCO have selected a number of children who would benefit from an intense booster programme.
On a daily basis you will be working with children aged 5-7 years. These children are mainly working at lower than expected age related levels for Reading and Writing. The majority of children in the two classes arrive from socially deprived backgrounds and have little academic support at home. There are some behavioural needs in the two classes and so it is important that you can use a range of strategies to ensure poor behaviour does not impact on learning and the development of the children’s Reading and Writing.
The school in Fulwood, Preston is easily accessible from Blackpool and other surouning areas and is perfect for public transport links. There are already a number of staff working in school through Teaching Personnel and the general reviews are positive for the way the Head teacher runs the working day. The School is graded GOOD by Ofsted from a recent inspection and within the report the Head teacher was commended for her ‘attention to detail’ and the ‘positive relationships she builds with the children, their parents and the staff in school’.
