Reporting to the Head of Communications, the Senior Marketing Manager will play a key role in managing the National Portrait Gallery’s overall marketing plans and strategies. The post-holder will be responsible for delivering the full range of marketing activities for the Gallery, including managing all aspects of marketing campaigns for exhibitions and ensuring that the expansive potential of the Gallery's Collection and activities is fully realised at all times. Responsible for: Commercial Sales and Marketing Manager, Data and Commercial Insights Analyst and Marketing Officer. Key Accountabilities: Manage all aspects of marketing campaigns for the Gallery including permanent Collection, temporary exhibitions, displays, events, learning projects, national programme and other Gallery activities. Ensure an integrated approach across all campaigns and activity Promote and market the Gallery effectively to the public and consistently develop activity to maintain existing audiences and attract new and target audiences. Manage the relationship with the Gallery's media buying, design and distribution agencies and liaise with them on planning forthcoming campaigns Manage the marketing budgets ensuring value for money in all procurement Maximise income generation by supporting the marketing of commercial activity, fundraising, corporate hire, events and ticketing to reach set income targets. Oversee the Gallery’s visitor and market research programme together with the Data and Commercial Insights Analyst Support the marketing and promotion of the Gallery’s Membership scheme Maximise the audience development potential of the Gallery’s varied programme of exhibitions and events by implementing campaigns to attract key target groups. Work with the Director of Audiences on implementing the new brand, ongoing brand management and generic campaigns. Actively research and develop potential new marketing leads and promotional opportunities to develop further growth. Identify and build close working relationships with relevant organisations, groups and promotional partners, and devise and implement third-party promotions and media partnerships. Actively develop digital, online and e-marketing working with the Digital Communications Manager. Work with the Digital Team to maintain up-to-date content on the website at all times. Work with the CRM Manager and Visitor Experience Team to exploit the potential of the Gallery’s CRM databases and ticketing system. Assess and review contact databases, manage and build relevant mailing lists and plan direct mail campaigns. Manage the production of print materials and digital marketing assets in conjunction with appropriate departments, including design commission, copy writing and, where appropriate, liaising with printers, ensuring optimum quality and value for money. Manage supplier relationships to ensure accuracy and deadlines are met at all times. Develop and maintain a roster of designers and printers on which the Gallery can rely for both cost and quality. Liaise closely with the Development Team to ensure that supporters and sponsors requirements are fulfilled. Liaise with the Exhibitions and National Programmes teams to ensure the Gallery’s brand is consistently represented on tour venue and regional partner marketing. Co-ordinate on-site marketing and promotion, liaising with internal departments as appropriate. Work with the Senior Communications Manager to ensure all marketing activity is co-ordinated and fits the department’s main aims and objectives. Manage and co-ordinate campaign evaluation and visitor figure reporting and analysis. Contribute to strategic planning and forecasting, monitoring market trends and developments so that all profitable avenues both at the Gallery and through its work further afield are exploited. Line-manage the Marketing team, including their performance reviews, training and personal development requests, and providing support and guidance as required. Deputise for and assist the Director of Audiences as necessary. Occasional weekend and evening work will be required to help with out of hours cover and events
