We are looking for a Catering Assistant to join the team at Practice Plus Group Hospital, Shepton Mallet.
This is a full time vacancy, working 37.5 hours a week over 5 days. This will be on a shift pattern between Monday and Sunday.
Main duties of the job
You will be an integral part of a passionate team helping to provide meals for our patients and to ensure they feel that they are receiving a high quality experience. You will provide an efficient, high quality dedicated food and beverage service, operating in line with clearly defined standards and in compliance with policies and procedures.
You will serve meals to inpatients and audit the completion of a nutritional intake sheet for each meal provided.
You will need to inform staff of any patient who has refused or not eaten much of their meal for onward management.
You will act on any patient dietary requests for additional/alternative food or beverages, reporting any difficulty to the Head or Second Chef for onward management and also report any patient dissatisfaction regarding catering service.
You will be responsible for the regeneration of chilled/frozen food and preparation of sauces, plating and service of cold and hot food items, including service of condiments, probing and recording food temperatures, and beverage service to patients.

* Effective verbal and written communication skills.
* Enjoy working at a fast pace and within a team environment.
* A Basic Food Hygiene certificate or willingness to work towards.
* Have experience working within a similar role.
