Anopportunity has arisen for a part time band 6 working 19 hours a week in theVascular Access Specialist Team, (VAST) working out of David Beevers DayUnit.
Thisexciting role will entail a large degree of autonomy in reviewing andaccepting referrals, liaising with senior clinicians and discussions with allClinical Service Units throughout the trust in all aspects of line care. Main duties of the job
Thereis likely to be an element of discussions with patients and organisingadmissions to hospital. Prior knowledge and experience of inserting vascularaccess devices is desirable although there will be support and trainingprovided within the team. Ideally, we are seeking someone who can beadaptable and dynamic to flex between management of the theatre lists,guidance for teams and assisting/ inserting vascular access devicesindependently. The team functions across the whole trust, providing supportto all CSUs and is looking to expand its workforce to match this hugedemand. Being a relatively small team, working over such a large demand therewill be opportunity to enhance the role and improve the service with regularmeetings with clinicians to voice suggestions.

Job responsibilities
Asan experienced practitioner the jobholder will co-ordinate activities withinthe peri-operative environment ensuring effective communication is maintainedat all times, providing support to qualified and unqualified staff within thedepartment. He/she will play a keyrole in the assessment of patient care needs and the development,implementation and evaluation of programmes of care.
Thejobholder will play an essential role assisting Team Leader in leading andteaching the peri-operative teams throughout the 24-hour period.
Thejobholder will act as a role model, promoting quality evidence-basedpractice, developing the peri-operative team and ensuring effectivemanagement of the department in the absence of the Team Leader

* Able to fulfil Occupational Health requirements for the post (with reasonable adjustments if necessary), including clearance on blood borne viruses in compliance with Trust Policy
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse (Level 1) or Registered Operating Department Practitioner
* Recognised teaching/assessing qualification
Experience
* Significant Advanced Peri-operative or equivalent experience within relevant specialty.
