UK based with periods of overseas travel.
This is no ordinary Clerk of Works opportunity. For a start, you’ll work on projects around the world, in locations that are as diverse as the challenges you’ll help to solve. Then there’s the breadth of responsibility. It’s not just about assuring quality, health and safety, and customer satisfaction. It’s also about helping to make the world a safer place. That’s why a growth mindset is as important as your experience to date.
At FCDO Services, we protect the UK’s interests at home and overseas. We design and construct secure government buildings, courier diplomatic packages worldwide, safeguard government tech, and a whole lot more.
Our work is as varied and vital as it gets, but we never lose sight of our people. Their skills, aspirations and growth mean as much as the global mission we're on. In our world, it all matters.
Designing and building brand-new embassies in bustling cities and remote locations. Collaborating with architects, engineers and surveyors to design and reconfigure a high commission’s office space. Developing a secure site’s new CCTV System. The work of our Secure Property Design and Construction team is as varied and as vital as it gets. Now you’ve got the opportunity to join them.

Supervise multimillion pound projects in locations around the world
This is your opportunity to be the Clerk of works like no other. With FCDO Services, you’ll supervise multimillion pound projects around the world. Across a diverse range of programmes, for a variety of customers, one thing will remain constant: this work is vital to the national interest. Every detail is important. The role spans quality assurance, health and safety, and stakeholder management. As the consistent individual on site, you’ll be the voice of the customer – and they may be several time zones away. As postings can involve extended time abroad, we offer family relocation packages if longer than 12 months.
We’re building a diverse team. Not only because it’s the right thing to do, but because diverse perspectives are vital in projects like ours. With the motivation to keep an eye on the quality of every detail, you’ll also bring a growth mindset to the job. You’re always looking to learn and develop, so you can satisfy customers and deliver ever-better results. Your attention to detail, ability to problem solve and flair for forging good relationships with all kinds of people from senior stakeholders to team leaders and project managers, to contractors will be a real asset when working in environments that can be fragile and remote.
Use every facet of your skills to deliver works in the national interest
You’ll draw on all your skills and experience from working on construction projects from commissioning work and carrying out site surveys, through to overseeing technical work and managing risk. We’ll expect you to play a key role championing compliance at all stages from helping review design documents, through inspecting and reporting on progress, to checking the accuracy and quality of installation work.
To thrive in this role, you’ll need good leadership skills and the confidence to work independently. Language skills could be a real advantage but are not essential. You might have a background in the military, tools or trades. You may have expertise in electrical or mechanical engineering. Whatever you’ve done to date, you’ll certainly demonstrate the ability to get to know and understand complex briefs. You’ll need to be comfortable in a role that can be physical. And, crucially, you’ll need to be adaptable.
Grow your career with full support
Working with us you’ll help keep people, information, and assets safe around the world. It’s a role you can feel proud of; and we aim to make every part of your career just as rewarding.
