There is an exciting opportunity to join the Chaplaincy team as the Lead Chaplain at DBTH which is now part of a new structure within Specialist Palliative and End of Life Care Services.
We are looking to refresh and update the service and there is a vacancy to help lead an already established and experienced team. They will direct, develop and provide a pro-active service for the DBTH community to improve equality, diversity and inclusion across all faiths, beliefs and pastoral support for patients, visitors and staff.
This role requires someone with a kind and compassionate nature but also with drive and enthusiasm, who can work well with and inspire others with a modern vision of what a chaplaincy team can provide. This role will cover all three hospital sites at DRI, Bassetlaw and Mexborough Montagu over 30 hours across Monday to Friday and will include taking part in the out of hours rota provision.
Main duties of the job
1. To be responsible for leading and managing the Chaplaincy team at DBTH NHS FT to ensure that the spiritual, pastoral, and religious needs of patients, relatives, carers, volunteers, and staff are met.
2. To ensure all faiths and forms of worship are embraced by the Trust, reflecting the needs of patients, loved ones and staff.
3. To work with faith community leaders in relation to the specific provision of religious support to provide inclusivity and equality across minority groups.
4. To ensure that staff and volunteers work within all relevant internal Trust policies and that all appropriate legislation is complied with including working towards the quality standards recommended by the UK board of Healthcare Chaplaincy.
5. To work closely with the specialist palliative and end of life care teams, clinical staff, medical examiner officers and bereavement administration team to provide bereaved people with a compassionate and supportive service.
6. To contribute to and support the organisation and hospital community by taking part in open days, religious and non-religious festivals and other celebrations and events in the Trust calendar.
7. To lead on arranging services to commemorate important reflective events (such as Remembrance Day).
8. Day to day management of the team and ensuring that training is up to date.
9. To participate in the on-call rota and to be responsible for the Chaplaincy Department budget.

Person Specification
Knowledge and Experience
* Recent significant experience within healthcare chaplaincy
* Experience with supporting people facing loss and grief
* Leading, managing and working collaboratively and constructively with a team.
* Experience of managing budgets
* Skills & ability in use of a range of computer packages and systems
* Experience of working in a multi-faith context
* Experience in Project leading and service Improvement
* Experience in healthcare work involving complex communication and discussions with patients, loved ones and staff.
Qualifications/Training
* Recognised theological qualification e.g. Bachelor's Degree or completion of a ministerial training course / Educated to degree or diploma level in a relevant subject such as pastoral support, counselling, or social care.
* Recognised and able to be authorised or licensed by appropriate faith community or belief group
* Committed to continuous professional development
* Full driving licence
* Postgraduate qualification or equivalent experience in a chaplaincy-related discipline
* Membership of CHCC, UK board of Healthcare Chaplains.

* Driving is essential as there may be a requirement to travel to any of the Trust's sites promptly to respond to on-call requests including evenings and weekends.
* Able to organise, plan, analyse data, and produce reports and materials.
* Willingness to work to flexible rota pattern
* Able to construct necessary rotas and timetables.
* Conflict resolution, experience, dealing with complex conversations and mediation
* An understanding of the role of pastoral and spiritual support in health and social care settings.
