Job summary It is envisaged that the post holder will carry out their duties as a full time specialty doctor in anaesthesia. The posts are initially contracted for 10 programmed activities per week. The demands of the Anaesthetic department mean that close and ongoing collaboration with SAS grade colleagues is required. A degree of mutual two-way flexibility in sessional provision is anticipated. This job involves cross site working between our two principal hospitals at York & Scarborough, with Scarborough Hospital as the base site Individual job plans will be discussed and finalised with the clinical director on appointment and will become operational on commencement. Main duties of the job At Scarborough Hospital surgical services are supported by an 8 bedded Intensive Care Unit which has funding for up to 6 level 3 patients at any one time. The main theatre suite comprises five theatres, in addition to which there is a separate maternity theatre. Surgical services at Scarborough currently include; general surgery (including emergencies), trauma, gynaecology, ENT, maxillo-facial, oral surgery, ophthalmology and urology. We now also have a successful and expanding day unit to support this work.
